Before you replace the speakers
Rule out software first. Check the volume and mute settings, make sure the laptop speakers are selected as the output device and update the audio driver. If sound is still distorted or missing while headphones work normally, the speakers themselves are the likely fault. To fit the kit, disconnect the power, remove the bottom cover and disconnect the battery before lifting out the old speakers and routing the new cable the same way.
