Compatibility
Fits Lenovo ThinkPad X380 Yoga, X390, L480, T480, T580, T14 Gen 1 (Intel) and X1 Carbon 6th Gen (2018). The laptop must have a WWAN slot, WWAN antennas and a SIM tray. It is not for AMD T14 models or ThinkPads without WWAN support. Check the model on the label under the laptop.
What you need for 4G to work
Your ThinkPad needs WWAN antenna cables already routed to the slot and a SIM card slot. Fit the module, connect the two antenna leads, insert a data SIM and install the Lenovo WWAN driver. Laptops sold without WWAN may lack the antennas, and the card will not get signal without them.
